SCC-forskare på Topp-100-lista av mest citerade forskare inom medicin i Sverige

Föreståndaren för Sahlgrenska Cancer Center (SCC), Jonas Nilsson, är omnämnd på listan över de 100 mest citerade forskarna inom området för medicin. Bland forskare från GU var han en av endast två cancerforskare - definierat utifrån mottagandet av anslag från Cancerfonden - som lyckades komma med på denna lista.

– Även om det är roligt att höra att vår forskning är bland den mest välciterade i Sverige, måste jag ändå säga att listan representerar en ögonblicksbild av en specifik tidsperiod och att listan därför kan komma att se helt annorlunda nästa gång. Exempelvis skulle den mest citerade artikeln någonsin från GU, 2007 års vetenskapliga artikel i Nature Cell Biology av Jan Lötvall, lätt placerat Jan på listan om tidsperioden exempelvis hade varit 15 år, förklarar professor Jonas Nilsson.

  • 1st of July Sahlgrenska Cancer Center changes its name to Sahlgrenska Center for Cancer Research

    [13 May 2020] From July 1, 2020, Sahlgrenska Cancer Center at University of Gothenburg will change its name and will then be called Sahlgrenska Center for Cancer Research, or in Swedish Sahlgrenska Centrum för cancerforskning.

  • Fredrik Bergh Thorén is now professor of medical cell biology [Swedish]

    [13 May 2020] Fredrik Bergh Thorén, one of the research group leaders at Sahlgrenska Cancer Center, is now professor of medical cell biology. He is a member of the education committee for pharmacy and has during a longer period also been a teacher and a course leader at the Pharmacy programme. As a professor he will participate in the teaching of histology within the Programme in Medicin.

  • Kristell Le Gal Beneroso is one of two researchers who receive the Assar Gabrielsson's Award of 2020 [Swedish]

    [7 May 2020] Kristell Le Gal Beneroso på SCC is one of two researchers who receive the Assar Gabrielsson¿s Award of 2020 for an outstanding dissertation in Cancer Research issued from the University of Gothenburg. The award includes two categories; clinical research and basic scientific research. Kristell Le Gal Beneroso was awarded within the category of basic scientific research and therefore receives a research grant of SEK 100,000.

  • Serious form of melanoma gene-sequenced by SCC researchers

    [21 Apr 2020] Researchers at Sahlgrenska cancer center have mapped the genome of metastases from uveal melanoma, a rare but severe form of malignant melanoma that originates in the eye. The knowledge provided by this gene mapping includes new insights into how metastases arise and the nature of tumor-infiltrating immune cells.

  • SCC researchers are part of Swelife financed project regarding an epigenetic cancer therapy for an orphan cancer indication

    [3 Apr 2020] SARomics Biostructures, Red Glead Discovery and researchers at Sahlgrenska Cancer Center jointly collaborate in this project that was one of 15 financed by Swelife in order to increase health and well- being as well as increasing the sustainable growth and competitiveness of Swedish life science. In the project, a preclinical innovative epigenetic therapy will be significantly advanced towards clinical studies for an orphan cancer indication.
