Research areas

Sahlgrenska Cancer Center houses 22 research groups (links in menu) and their research is divided into four main research areas:

  • Cancer genomics
  • Basic disease mechanisms
  • Molecular pathology and therapeutics
  • Tumor immunology

Cancer genomics

Göran Stenman, Helena Carén, Khalil Helou and Ka-Wei Tang.

Basic disease mechanisms/ tumour biology

David Bryder, Volkan Sayin, Peter Naredi, Mikael Nilsson, Martin Bergö and Pierre Åman.

Molecular pathology and therapeutics

Anders Ståhlberg, Karin Sundfeldt, Göran Landberg, Martin Dalin, Changyan Chen, Jan-Erik Damber, Eva Forssell-Aronsson and Ola Nilsson.

Tumor immunology

Kristoffer Hellstrand, Jonas Nilsson, Fredrik Bergh Thorén and Anna Martner.

Research resourses

Sahlgrenska Cancer Center manages Sweden's largest biobank of humanized and personalized mouse cancer models – the SCC PDX-biobank.

All research groups at the centre also have access to other biobanks of a large variety of cancer diagnoses, together with an advanced collection of modern equipment.
